NEW! WIN Issues New Report and Survey Findings Highlighting Why More Women Die From Heart Disease Than Men

WIN has released a new report and survey that illustrate why cardiovascular disease is under-recognized and under-treated in women despite the near split in prevalence of heart disease between men and women.

The report, “Gender-Based Issues in Interventional Cardiology: A Consensus Statement from the Women in Innovations (WIN) Initiative,” was published this week in Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EuroIntervention, and Revista Española de Cardiología, and will also be published in Cardiovascular Intervention and Therapeutics. WIN in 2010

Dear WIN Members,

WIN has exciting initiatives in the pipeline for 2010. Please continue to check the WIN website for updated information on our educational programs and locations. WIN plans to have a presence at the following conferences in 2010; JIM, ACC, EuroPCR, SCAI, SOLACI, TCT, ESC and the SCAI Global Interventional Summit. At each of these meetings WIN plans to host either an educational event or formal roundtable discussion and you’re welcome to participate. If you are on the WIN mailing list, details for these meetings will be sent directly to you. We’ll also post the specifics on the website as they become available. In addition to these major global conferences, SCAI plans to exhibit at a wide variety of meetings throughout the year. You can always find more information on WIN and other SCAI initiatives at the SCAI booth.

2010 will showcase improved networking and communication tools through the WIN website which will allow for a more frequent and readily accessible exchange of ideas and information. WIN is also working on a number of publications, research projects and events, and will make calls to our membership to participate in these activities as they come up. You may also want to explore our new Global Ambassadors Program which we plan to launch early in the year.

WIN will look to increase and strengthen its partnerships with like minded organizations in 2010. You can expect to see collaborative initiatives, which involve multiple stakeholders and care providers, all working together for a common goal – improved care and professional development opportunities for women. As always, WIN can only grow with the participation of its members. If you have an interest in any of these areas, please do not hesitate to get involved and keep in mind that you need to be a SCAI member in order to do so. If you have an idea for a WIN event or program, please contact us! We cannot succeed without your help. As we move into 2010, SCAI looks to take WIN to the next level. We hope you’ll join us for the journey.
